Our Fallon, NV nursery operation is more than just a production facility. It is also a R&D center for developing the new horticulture processes and harvesting procedures required when bringing large scale bunch grasses to market. The Fallon nursery is managed by Neal Stevens. A minor in Agriculture from Loma Linda University and a masters degree in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in instructional design from California State University in Los Angeles. Designing and installing custom landscapes, developing a landscape lighting manual and teaching landscape lighting to landscape contractors. During the past 7 years he has done extensive research in saline agriculture. “My research focus has been on what it takes to make flora grow in saline and alkaline environments with salt levels approaching 3,500 p.p.m and pH levels above 9.0,” he says Neal. “A lot of what I learned has been instrumental in developing the methods we incorporate in growing everything from trees and shrubs to large scale bunch grasses at the Fallon facility. Neal’s work in soil make-up and matching water movement through soils to specific plant species are the driving forces in influencing techniques in Fallon.
